SUPPORT AFRICA differentiates between development cooperation projects and scientific projects.
Development cooperation projects The association SUPPORT AFRICA GERMANY is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-governmental organization supporting developments in the Sub-Sahara Africa region. SUPPORT AFRICA GERMANY carries the German DZI Seal-of-Approval since 2000.
Scientific projects Research and development are promoted in close cooperation with African Universities. Emphasis is given to health/medicine, agriculture, food production, marketing and ecology. Promotes interdisciplinary studies in cooperation with universities in Sub-Sahara Africa aiming at the improvement of rural development.
Development cooperation projects
Moi University, Kenya
SUPPORT AFRICA supported Moi University with equipment for the new dental clinic in 2004. This measure led to the opening of the first Dental Faculty and the admittance of dental students in 2007.
University of Lukanga (UNILUK), Democratic Republic of the Congo
The university constructed a clinic in 2011. Medical equipment was provided by SUPPORT AFRICA in 2012. UNILUK is situated in Northern Kivu, in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Maseno University, Kenya
The clinic of Maseno University (Eldoret, Kenya)  was constructed in 2008 and medical  equipment was supplied by SUPPORT AFRICA in 2009. The clinic mainly serves the city of Maseno and its suburbs. It is located about 20 km away from Lake Victoria.
University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), Kenya
UEAB (West-Kenya) received 2007 a chemistry laboratory in cooperation with the University of Merseburg (Germany).
Drinking water project of Rwese, Democratic Republic of the congo
In the east of the Democratic Republic of the congo, the drinking water project of Rwese is located at the altitude of 2.300 m. The construction of the 14 miles long pipeline is suggested to be finished by the end of 2015.
Kendu Bay Health Center, Kenya
The Kendu Bay Health Center (200 beds) is located near Lake Victoria and serves patients from Kenia and Tansania.
SUPPORT AFRICA INTERNATIONAL (SAI) is an organization for associated Sub-Saharan African universities with a platform for advice, issues, developments and aims of the African academic world. SAI offers annually research awards in the areas of sustainable agriculture and biotechnology, ecology and medicine/public health.  Research results are published in the book series SUPPORT AFRICA INTERNATIONAL, Studies in Sub-Saharan Africa, and in the e-book series SUPPORT AFRICA RESEARCH INSTITUTE for Sub-Saharan African Studies.   Selective projects: Subsistence agriculture, food security and health  Sustainable resource management Use of low-input agricultural technologies Inclusive education for women in education Rehabilitation for persons with special handicaps  SUPPORT AFRICA INTERNATIONAL (SAI) organizes scientific conferences on interdisciplinary topics.   SUPPORT AFRICA INTERNATIONAL (SAI) organizes scientific conferences on interdisciplinary topics. A conference on the development of non-animal proteins was held from 03.-16.03.2011 with the assistance of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The conference report is available at the Institute free of charge.
