New co-editor-en-chief
Prof. Dr. Uche C. Amalu of the University of Calabar, Nigeria, joints the editorship as co-editor-en-chief of our research publication Studies in Sub-Saharan Africa. He is professor of soil science of the University of Calabar, Nigeria.

Visiting the University of Bahr el-Ghazal
Prof. Dr. Baldur E. Pfeiffer and Dorothée Grebe visited the University of Bahr el-Ghazal in Wau, South Sudan, Nov. 5 and 6, 2014, discussing the state of co-operation between SA and the university which exists since 2013. In a joint session with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Samson Wassara and his deputies the implementation strategy of the project was approved.         

SA is equipping the clinic of the University of Bahr el-Ghazal with medical technology. The project, co-financed by the Federal Government of Germany, includes the medical equipment for the following sections: surgery, diagnostics, laboratory, dermatology, gynecology, dentistry, and the wards.

Visiting the University of Juba
The SA delegation which already had visited South Sudan in Nov. 2012 also met the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, Prof. Dr. John Akec, 5.11. and 08.11.2014. Here, likewise the development of the university's clinic with the help of SA in 2017 was discussed. A tour around the university campus revealed many positive and encouraging developments since the national independence in 2011.

Drinking Water Project
Presently, SA implementing a drinking water project in the city of Rwese (North Kivu) and in 16 adjoined villages in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The population of 7.800 peoples suffer in lacking of clean drinking water which has to be carried on foot uphill to the villages located 2200 m.s.n.m.; the pipe length will be 21,5 km. The project implementation ends in summer 2015. It is co-sponsored by the Federal Government of Germany.

Support for the Rusangu University
SA has made provisions of equipping the new clinic of Rusanga University in Zambia with medical technology for 2015/16. SA was informed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mutugu Mutinga that the finances for the construction of a new clinic have been secured and construction work would start soon.

Support for the Eben-Ezer University of Minembwe
The young Eben-Ezer University of Minembwe, located in South Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Dem. Repl. of the Congo, has also requested aid for its newly constructed health center. SA is likewise considering aid for this medical institution. SA offers help to universities, who give not only medical services to its staff and student body but also to its surrounding communities.

Visiting of Universities in Eastern Africa
